CMO50 2021 The Marketer’s Champion: David Morgan

The CMO Marketer's Champion is about recognising one individual, no longer in a CMO position and who has progressed their career beyond marketing leadership, but who continues to contribute and give back to the marketing community to ensure the profession is respected as an active business contributor and growth driver.
2021 is the first time this award has been handed out, and we’re incredibly proud to acknowledge our Advisory Committee member, and long-standing marketing industry expert, David Morgan as one of the inaugural winners.

In David’s own words: “Whether it’s Covid, natural disasters, climate change, political divisiveness etc., the world my daughters are inheriting is facing some really difficult challenges. Only by changing people’s behaviour, can we start to make a difference. Great marketers have all the technical and leadership skills to change people’s behaviour - it’s what they do. So, helping to create and develop great marketers is my small contribution and wishing them the best of success for the change they can make and inspire through their businesses and brands."

David is one of Australia’s most experienced and successful marketers with a career including leadership roles across Asia-Pacific for Procter & Gamble, Citibank and Nestle, global CMO roles for Samsung, and Standard Chartered Bank, and for HBOS he led the extraordinary rise of Bankwest from 15th to 5th largest retail bank in Australia.

David now runs MacMorgan, a business consultancy providing operational implementation and capability support programs for organisations transforming to customer experience led, and personalisation approaches.

As a business thought leader, David has presented in academic institutions, for global industry conferences, by corporate invitation, and is a regular invitee to judge local and global industry awards. David has also been a founding ambassador for The Marketing Academy in Australia, and has been judging the prestigious CMO50 Marketer of the Year since its inauguration.

ADMA CEO Andrea Martens congratulated all the winners, saying, “We have 12 external members on the ADMA Advisory Committee, which means we’ve seen 50 per cent of that group recognised as the best representation of Australian marketing. On behalf of ADMA, I'm incredibly proud to say we have the brightest minds in marketing advising us on how we continue to support our members and the wider industry by delivering education, insights and resources that make a difference to marketers at every level, and across multiple industries.”
